A: The CKC is the Canadian Kennel Club; not to be confused with the Continental Kennel Club. They are widely recognized around the world and is the leading kennel club in Canada.
Q: What is the difference between a pedigree and registration papers?
A: The pedigree is just like your family tree with all the names of your pup's family. The registration is the CKC individual dog's papers with their micro chip number on it, their birthday etc. This is proof you own a purebred. In fact it is illegal to say a dog is purebred just because the parents are. That individual pup needs it's very own registration papers to be considered a purebred.
Q: What exactly is a "teacup"?
A: It is a pup that is smaller than most. We breeders are keeping up with you public to provide smaller dogs. The only problem with that is, if a pup will be under 3lb as an adult it will likely have health issues for ever. Stay away from really tiny ones. They could be the runts of the litter.
Q: What is a puppy mill?
A: People who use dogs as a commodity for cash and that's it. They do not care for their dogs as pets or as individuals. They often have horrible living conditions and many dogs are sick and/or dying. We've had a shih tzu that came from one and she had to be taught to use her back legs....she had to learn how to walk and she was an adult. Do NOT rescue a pup from them either because you will be supporting this evil industry. Pet stores often buy from puppy mills and therefore you have no history of the pup; usually no health guarantee and if you do, do you really think after a month you could bring your pup back to the pet store for a refund? I doubt that!
Q: Why is it in general purebreds cost more?
A: Firstly, we breeders pay double (or more) for a breeding contract with another breeder. Secondly, all the paperwork for CKC takes time and money. Thirdly, it can take literally years to get a good breeding stock....reliable, healthy no c-section dogs. And then there is no guarantee there won't be the costly c-section involved! I have to pay for the litter application and then each individual dog's registration papers as well.
Q: I heard that "designer dogs" are more healthy than purebreds.
A: If I put a male poodle with bad legs with a shih tzu mom with bad legs, I guarantee you the pups will have bad legs! It is the responsibility of the breeder to make sure the dogs being bred are a good match...purebred or not. We at Kingcreek take our breeding program seriously and have never had enlarged hearts or liver shunt....because we are careful to always have only the healthiest dogs. BTW, we also breed for conformation and personality. It's not that simple and can take years to get a good breeding pod of dogs. With humility, we believe we have achieved that.
Q: Do you take credit card payments?
A: Yes, through Paypal. We also take cash. Or you can make a deposit straight into my RBC account in Sundridge or you can pay via internet banking. Easy and fast.
Q: So I've decided to buy a Kingcreek pup. What do I do now?
A: Contact me. Usually the initial contact is through email which is fine. But the next contact should be over the phone where I will ask YOU some questions. Please do not take offense to this; we just want to be sure the pup you want will be a good fit for you and your lifestyle etc. We don't sell to just anybody. We are careful and so should you be!
Q: How do I know you are legit?
A: Good question when there are soooo many bad breeders and scammers out there today....we are a registered business with the Ontario Revenue Agency. Our Business number is 85493 5855. You can call 1 800 959 5525 to confirm.
Q: Does the total cost of the pup include taxes?
A: Yes, we take care of all that. Less complicated for you!
