You know the saying; "I was scared to death!".  This is a real possibility for your pup.  Let me explain.

Dogs cannot express fear, anxiety or stress the same way babies or humans can.  So frankly, they look happy for the most part.  But let me assure you, when you take your pup away from Kingcreek, your pup is extremely stressed and if not handled properly can even die from it.

Recently (spring 2010) a woman wanted me to deliver her pup to her mother's with the promise she would pick up the pup the same evening.  To make a long story short, this woman had the pup carted around to various family members and car rides over the next four days.  Finally she called me and told me the pup was vomiting and had loose stool.  I told her to bring it to the vets immediately.  She did not, but waited till the Monday so she would not have to pay emergency prices.  The pup eventually died.  I was so angry I could spit/cry.   Please do as we suggest when you take your pup home.  We have been doing this for many many years and have experienced many more scenerios than you.  It is our primary goal to get every single pup to only the best possible home with the safest and least stressful transition.

Any veterinarian will tell you your pup is stressed for the first 2 to 3 weeks he is with you.  The moment he leaves our house, he is stressed.  Therefore it is essential you keep him as quiet with as little stimulous as possible for those first few weeks.  That means no crate training, no car rides, no visits to Pet Smart or best friends.  Do not hold any parties, have people over etc.  I even suggest you introduce puppy to one room at a time, one day at a time.

Imagine if you could not speak Martian and you were kidnapped on a space ship.  You have been removed from everything you've ever known and not explained a single thing about it.  This is how the puppy feels....mommy is gone...siblings are gone....new voices, new smells and no explanatiion for comfort.  As humans we think that our love will override any hurdles.  It does help, but it doesn't replace common sense.  SO DO AS WE SAY!  And if that's not good enough than believe Cesear Milan who also says the identical thing about stress.

All animals carry the single cell bacteria called Coccidia.  When the immune system is compromised by something like stress this cell multiplies and the symptoms of Coccidiosis are lethargy, vomiting, bloody or mucose in the loose stool.  Because these are Toy Breeds they have very little body mass and can't take the symptoms for very long before endangering his life.  Even a drop calf will get this and can die from it and they have tons way more body mass.  This is critical information and if you really care about your new furbaby you will take our helpful advice.

Please bear in mind, I always give the worst case scenerio to err on the side of caution.  Usually, pups do very well and make the adjustment with no or little problem.  I'm here to help.  Call us, email us...take our advice!  We do know what we are talking about!

And be happy...you have a lifetime friend.
